The Bukhara Urial hunted in Uzbekistan is the southernmost, desert‑adapted urial of Central Asia — a sheep of arid foothills, broken escarpments, and cliff‑rimmed depressions, not alpine mountains. They are genetically and ecologically distinct from the mid‑altitude Afghan urial.

Getting There: Hunters will be met in Tashkent and assisted with firearms clearance and will take a connecting flight to the Surkhondarya region. A 2-hour drive by car reaches the hunting lodge which can also be reached in 7 hours by car from Tashkent.

Hunt Strategy: Bukhara urial occupy similar ecological belts in Uzbekistan’s southwestern and south‑central regions, especially Karakalpakstan’s southern escarpments, Sarykamysh Depression cliffs, Dry Lake region. Kazakhly–Kaplankyr broken ridges and Lower Ustyurt Plateau margins. These are the arid, broken, low‑elevation cliff systems that Bukhara inhabit.

Long‑Range glassing is the hunt for these Urials – glassing from chink rims across escarpments and into cliff pockets and along open benches – looking for bachelor ram groups, rutting movement, and daily transitional movement between shade and feed.

Shots typically range from 300-400 meters (approx. 325-425 yds.) on average.

Season: July-September. Our guides apply time-tested hunt strategies for temperatures and seasonal patterns of movement during the entire season.

Length of Hunt: The duration of the hunt varies between 2 to 6 days plus 2 in-country travel days.
